Fall 2026
You Give the Gifts, We Get the Smiles
Update from Dr. Wolf
For many years, Cherlie and I and our staff in Haiti had the luxury of welcoming individuals and groups coming down as visitors to work with our ministry. In the early years, many of the teams were construction-oriented, helping us build and furnish the clinic, lab/xray/pharmacy building and upstairs residence. Then, we had medical groups with physicians, nurses, ultrasound technicians, bio-medical engineers, each one contributing to our patient care services in an important way. As is often the case with visitors, those of you who came to visit us brought gifts for our patients – tennis shoes, t-shirts, little girls’ dresses, diapers, beanie babies and toy cars. And, when you gave them to our patients, they rewarded your generosity and compassion with their laughter and their smiles.
Then came the year 2020 with the pandemic, political insecurity and a Level 4 Security Level from the US State Department, causing us to put a stop to all visitors and visiting teams. We haven’t had a single visitor come down since then. But we want you to know that, even if you’re not physically present with us, your contributions to our ministry have continued to be felt in small but powerful ways.
- When you donate to our General Fund, you help us purchase the medications we need to supply our pharmacy and sell at reasonable costs to our patients.
- When you donate to our Goat Program, you supply a rural family with goats to help pay for their children to go to school.
- When you donate to our Indigent Patient Fund, you help parents purchase medications for their sick infants and children, preventing them from getting even more ill.
- When you donate to our Church Grant Program, you help small rural churches build the permanent facility they need to worship the Lord and fellowship together.
- When you donate to our Diabetes Institute, you help patients with diabetes live longer and healthier lives.
- When you donate to our Water and Sanitation Program, you help families learn the principles of water, sanitation and hygiene, preventing illness and improving health.
- When you donate to our Agriculture Program, you help farmers learn how to improve their harvests and better care for their families.
Remember those toys and gifts you left behind when you visited with us those many years ago? Well, we still have some of them and other gifts that have been sent down in their place. And, Cherlie and I and our nurses are giving them out and enjoying the smiles in your place, like little 5 year old Dieuna who came to the clinic with a severe leg infection. I wanted to make sure she stays in bed so her leg can heal and I gave her a little “friend” who I said needs to stay in bed with her.
Or, Betina Auguste who turned 6 on the 6th of October and went home with a nice, new birthday gift to celebrate her special day.
Or little 3 year old Dalensky who was thrilled with the little toy car given to him by his doctor.
