Fall 2026

Note from Executive Director Sara Simeunovic

As we enter another season at Friends for Health in Haiti, we are deeply grateful for your support, which has allowed us to
provide reliable healthcare even amid challenging circumstances. Now more than ever, our steadfast presence is needed in
rural Haiti. Limited access to care, ongoing violence, and mass displacement have left millions of Haitians without dependable
medical treatment, and preventable illnesses such as diarrhea, pneumonia, and malaria continue to take lives. Mothers and
young children face the greatest risk. It is not easy being a doctor in Haiti. Many physicians work with limited medicine,
equipment, staffing, and hospital capacity while caring for patients affected by poverty, violence, displacement, malnutrition,
and preventable illness.

Despite these challenges, Centre de Sante Gatineau (CSG) continues to serve families in the surrounding communities with
courage and compassion. Such work demands medical skill, resilience, and a deep commitment to protecting the health and
dignity of every patient. Our community development programs continue to strengthen families. During a recent educational
seminar in Maten, many residents gathered to learn how to prevent germs and practice healthy hygiene. Our promoters were
delighted by the large turnout, and the community's eagerness to learn further motivated their teaching.

In this issue, you will hear how your gifts help us remain a dependable source of hope in rural Haiti. The toys and gifts you
provide bring joy to our youngest patients, and your contributions to our education fund help Haitian doctors live out their
calling. Together we have accomplished far more than we imagined. Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness to FHH!
