HEAR FROM OUR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR! SARA SIMEUNOVIC
I am honored to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of FHH. It means so much to be entrusted with this responsibility. Having worked with nonprofits throughout Haiti, I greatly appreciate FHH”s thoughtful approach in providing sustainable healthcare for those living in rural Haiti. As I step into this role, I am looking forward to working with Dr. Wolf, whose vision and passion have laid a strong foundation for FHH. I hope to work alongside Dr. Wolf and the FHH team and build upon this foundation while finding new ways to expand our reach.
My journey with Haiti began in 1995, when I traveled to Haiti on a mission trip. Though I visited other countries, it was Haiti that stole my heart. During my studies, I volunteered for various nonprofit organizations operating in Haiti. While my degrees provide valuable professional knowledge, it was the Haitian people who taught me invaluable lessons concerning the difficulties they are facing, including the disparities of essential services such as healthcare.
As a former Executive Director, I saw firsthand the struggle Haitians face in receiving healthcare.
Some individuals walk up to five hours to see a doctor while some never receive care due to the difficult terrain or unawareness of the services available to them. I have seen the faces of parents burdened by concern for their children and spoken with community members about the increasing demand for healthcare in their villages. I have also come to learn of the great resolve in these individuals to find hope, answers, and resources and the role we can serve in such pursuit. I am deeply committed to seeing rural Haitians receive access to compassionate, sustainable healthcare which is why I am so grateful for this opportunity.
I would love the opportunity to connect with you, hear your thoughts, and what inspires your commitment to the FHH cause. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at sara.simeunovic@friendsforhealthinhaiti.org. Thank you again for your partnership in creating lasting change for the people of Haiti.
