For more than a year, the Board of Directors of FHH and I have been actively looking to hire a US-based Executive Director who can become the new face of the organization and assume overall responsibility for FHH, helping to increase our support and financial base, cultivate existing partnerships and develop new ones and lead the organization to a new level of excellence and sustainability. We believe we’ve found that person in Sara Simeunovic, a woman with strong academic qualifications and extensive prior leadership experience in Haiti.

Sara’s journey with Haiti began in 1995, when she first traveled to Haiti. Though she visited other countries, it was Haiti that stole her heart. Sara has volunteered for various nonprofit organizations and served as a former Executive Director of a nonprofit providing healthcare in rural Haiti. Sara has led initiatives on a regional and national level with clients such as the US Department of State and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Her published research focuses on Haiti’s maternal healthcare crisis and the contributions of Haitian women in facing this crisis. She has worked with nonprofits of various backgrounds, overseeing and evaluating portfolios of up to $80 million USD. Sara holds a Masters in Political Science from VT with emphasis in Security.

As Sara steps into this role, Dr. Wolf and Cherlie will continue to be responsible for the Haiti operations, running the clinic, and community development programs. This is an exciting time for FHH and we are certain the Lord has wonderful things in store for us as we seek to improve health and change lives in Haiti.
