One of the things that sets Friends for Health in Haiti apart from other non-profit organizations is our long-term commitment to the ruralHaitians we serve. When we begin a new program, such as our Water and Sanitation Program or our Goat Program, it is our desire to see the program grow and expand according to the need it was designed to address. We constantly supervise the programs and recipients and evaluate the programs periodically to measure their effectiveness. In addition, we expand the programs to new communities that we feel will benefit from them. And, all of our programs require input from the program recipients. They participate in community education sessions, help build latrines in their yards, care for and give reports on their goats and bring the goats to mobile veterinary clinics for vaccinations and care. This is much different than the way in which many large non-profit organizations conduct their business. They usually work according to grants that have a well-defined budget and time limitation and when they’re finished with the grant, they’re finished! We’re not finished with our programs until the need is no longer present and we have our donors to thank for giving us the resources for us to be involved with people and communities long-term!

In this issue of our newsletter, you’re going to hear about some of our most-needy clinic patients, the expansion of our Water and Sanitation Program, continuing care given in our Goat Program and commitment to making our capped water sources accessible to all. We’re able to accomplish these things because of you, our donors and supporters! Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness toFHH!
