Communities that habitually plant and harvest beans were identified in the area around the clinic site
Initial discussions have been held with community leaders in these areas
A meeting will be held in July to discuss plans for seed distribution
Sources of seed purchase are being investigated
Plan of distribution will include a “payback” provision, wherein each recipient will give some seeds back to the community to be used for distribution to others in need at the next planting cycle.
2. House Construction
A site for the new home has been identified
A contract has been made with a construction foreman
The house design will include:A small front porch, central living/dining area, four small bedrooms, construction will be cement block walls and tin roof
3. Road Repairs
The most needy areas of road have been identified
Contact has been made with an engineer who works with the Haitian Department of Transportation, to evaluate feasibility of repair of these areas and assist with budget estimates for the repairs
Repairs will need approval of the Regional Director of the Department of Transportation for closure of the road on the day of repair
4. Patient Poor Fund Funds designated for the Patient Poor Fund will be used for the following:
Cost of medications at the clinic
Cost of hospitalization and care at the government hospital in Jérémie for those patients, especially pediatric, who require transfer to the hospital
Nutritional support, in the form of milk and protein supplements, for malnourished children seen in the clinic
