HURRICANE RELIEF GRANT

Early in 2009, Friends for Health in Haiti was awarded a $10,000 grant from Bridgeway Funds, through the intervention
of
Health Empowering Humanity.  The grant was part of an effort by Bridgeway to provide funds for relief of Haitians
suffering the effects of the devastating hurricanes that struck the island in 2008.  Although the Jérémie area didn’t
receive the full impact of the storms, there was significant flooding here and many farmers lost homes and crops.

In order to provide assistance to the communities around our clinic site in Gatineau, the Hurricane Relief Grant will be
used for the following:

•Purchase of bean seeds to be distributed to farmers in 17 communities

•Construction of a tin-roofed house for a woman and her extended family
who’s home was destroyed by the hurricanes

•Repair of three flood-prone areas of the road leading from Jérémie to
Gatineau

•Funds for our
Patient Poor Fund to assist our most indigent patients
with the purchase of needed medications from our clinic
